NFL Requests Removal of DHS Social Media Post Featuring Brian Dawkins

The National Football League has officially requested that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) take down a social media post that utilized footage of former Philadelphia Eagles star Brian Dawkins to illustrate the actions of immigration agents. The video, which featured a compilation of the legendary safety’s most aggressive on-field collisions, was shared by the agency on X, formerly known as Twitter, this past Sunday evening.

The post was published by the DHS in response to reports regarding a large migrant caravan moving toward the United States' southern border. Accompanying the montage of Dawkins' hits, the agency included the caption, "Our time has come." As of midday Monday, the video remained accessible on the platform despite the league's intervention.

The NFL confirmed it had reached out to the department to demand the removal of the content. The league’s involvement highlights ongoing concerns regarding the unauthorized use of professional sports highlights in political or governmental communications. The incident follows a similar situation in March, when the White House shared a video that combined NFL and NCAA football highlights with footage of airstrikes on Iranian targets. The league did not confirm whether it had requested the removal of that specific video, which also remains active on social media.
