The New York Giants have solidified their secondary by securing cornerback Greg Newsome II on a new three-year contract extension. The deal, which is valued at $46 million, was confirmed by the player's agent, Erik Burkhardt of Roc Nation Sports.

This agreement arrives midway through the current campaign, marking a significant commitment from the organization to the 26-year-old defensive back. According to the terms of the contract, Newsome is set to receive $32 million in guaranteed money as part of the total package.

A New Chapter in New York

Newsome’s journey to this extension has been marked by several transitions across the league. Originally selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, he spent his early career in Ohio before being traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars last October. Following his stint in Jacksonville, he joined the Giants this past offseason on a one-year contract.

The cornerback has quickly integrated into the New York defensive scheme, contributing to a unit that has helped the team establish a 4-2-1 record. Through the first portion of the season, Newsome has recorded 17 tackles, six passes defended, and one interception. His performance has been a key component for a Giants squad that currently holds the top spot in the NFC East standings.
