Jacksonville Jaguars Left Tackle Anton Harrison Out for Season With Torn ACL

The Jacksonville Jaguars have received confirmation that starting left tackle Anton Harrison will be sidelined for the remainder of the season. The 24-year-old offensive lineman suffered a torn ACL in his right knee, an injury that was fully diagnosed following arthroscopic surgery performed this past Thursday.

Harrison sustained the season-ending injury during the team’s Week 5 victory against the Philadelphia Eagles. The incident occurred while he was blocking on a running play—specifically a sweep to the right involving teammate Bhayshul Tuten. After disengaging from his block, Harrison was seen grabbing his right knee before collapsing to the turf. He was subsequently transported off the field via cart. The organization officially moved him to injured reserve on October 13.

Impact on the Jaguars Offensive Line

The loss of Harrison represents a significant blow to the Jacksonville offensive front. Selected 27th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, the lineman had been a central figure in the team's protection plans. During the most recent training camp, the coaching staff made the strategic decision to shift him from his original position at right tackle to the left tackle spot.

Prior to the injury, Harrison had been providing steady service on the edge. Statistical analysis ranked him 39th among all offensive tackles in the league, boasting an 83.7% pass block win rate. For comparison, his teammate on the opposite side of the line, right tackle Cole Van Lanen, recorded an 84.4% win rate, placing him four spots ahead of Harrison in the rankings.

Despite this setback, the franchise remains committed to the young lineman's future. The Jaguars demonstrated their confidence in his development earlier this year by picking up his fifth-year option in April. As the team navigates the remainder of the schedule without their primary left tackle, they will be forced to adjust their blocking schemes to compensate for his absence.
