Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell was transported to a local hospital for evaluation after sustaining a neck injury during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s contest against the Minnesota Vikings. The defensive standout remained motionless on the turf following a collision with Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson, prompting an immediate response from medical personnel.

After being attended to on the field, Campbell was secured to a backboard and carefully lifted onto a cart. As he was taken off the field, the player received applause from the crowd, while members of the Lions' coaching staff and his teammates gathered around the cart to show their support. The injury occurred during what was Campbell's third tackle of the afternoon.

Injury concerns mount for Detroit defense

The departure of the former first-round draft pick marked a difficult conclusion to a game that saw several key defensive players sidelined. Earlier in the matchup, both pass rusher DJ Wonnum and safety Brian Branch were forced to exit the game after sustaining concussions.

Campbell, who was selected 18th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Iowa, has become a central figure in the Detroit defense. His impact was highlighted by his performance last season, where he recorded over 150 tackles, at least five sacks, and three forced fumbles, earning All-Pro honors. His status remains a significant point of concern for the franchise, which recently secured his services through the 2030 season with a four-year contract extension signed last May.
