New York Knicks standout Jalen Brunson is set to trade the basketball court for the small screen this autumn. NBC confirmed on Thursday that the NBA star will make a guest appearance on the long-running procedural drama Law & Order: SVU, with his episode scheduled to air on November 5.

While specific details regarding the character Brunson will portray remain under wraps, the athlete was spotted by cameras on the show’s Brooklyn set this past Wednesday. This television appearance adds to a busy off-season for the guard, who is already slated to host the season premiere of Saturday Night Live on September 26.

A growing connection with the Law & Order franchise

The crossover between the basketball star and the iconic crime drama has been building for some time. Earlier this week, Brunson made a cameo during the opening segment of the Emmy Awards, which was hosted by Law & Order: SVU lead actress Mariska Hargitay. The two have developed a public friendship, having been photographed together at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival and supporting one another’s professional endeavors throughout the year.

Hargitay, a vocal supporter of the Knicks, was in attendance at Madison Square Garden for Game 4 of the NBA Finals. During that contest, she witnessed the team overcome a 29-point deficit to secure a 107-106 victory over the San Antonio Spurs, a pivotal win that eventually propelled the franchise to its first championship title since 1973. Following the final buzzer, the pair were seen sharing a celebratory moment on the court.

Their professional and personal rapport has been well-documented in recent months. Brunson attended Hargitay’s Broadway performance of Every Brilliant Thing in June, while the actress was later seen riding on the team bus alongside Brunson, his father, and his wife during the Knicks' championship victory parade.
