Charlotte Hornets Sign Brandon Miller to Five-Year, $209 Million Extension

The Charlotte Hornets have secured the long-term future of forward Brandon Miller, reaching an agreement on a five-year, $209 million rookie-scale contract extension. The deal, confirmed by representatives AJ Vaynerchuk and Joey Middleton of VaynerSports, cements Miller’s status as a cornerstone of the franchise as he enters his fourth season in the league.

Miller, who is set to turn 24 next month, established himself as a primary offensive threat during the previous campaign. After being selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, the forward demonstrated significant growth, appearing in 65 regular-season games and posting career-best averages of 20.2 points and 4.9 rebounds per contest, while maintaining a 38.3% success rate from beyond the arc.

Impact and Growth in Charlotte

The forward’s influence on the team's performance was statistically evident throughout the year. Charlotte recorded a 41-24 record when Miller was in the lineup, compared to a 3-14 mark when he was sidelined. His presence was instrumental in the team’s midseason surge, which culminated in a push toward the postseason and an appearance in the second play-in game alongside teammate Kon Knueppel.

Durability proved to be a major factor in his development. After a limited rookie year where he played in only 27 games, Miller successfully navigated a healthier schedule last season. Although he missed time early in the year due to a shoulder injury, he underwent surgery in May to correct stability issues and has since completed a full recovery, participating in the team's preseason schedule.

Increased Responsibility Ahead

As Miller prepares for the upcoming season, his role within the organization is expected to expand significantly. Following the departures of long-term franchise fixtures LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges via trade, the team is looking to the young forward to provide leadership and consistent scoring production. With his new contract finalized, the Hornets have signaled their intent to build their immediate future around the versatile wing player.
