Tennessee Titans release defensive tackle Jordan Elliott following facility incident

The Tennessee Titans announced on Tuesday that they have released defensive tackle Jordan Elliott. The decision follows an internal review of an undisclosed incident that took place at the team's Nashville facility on Thursday, October 15.

In a brief statement regarding the roster move, the organization confirmed the departure but declined to provide further details, noting that they would have no additional comment on the matter. According to a team source, the decision to release the 28-year-old was reached with universal agreement within the organization. The NFL has been made aware of the situation.

Context surrounding the departure

The sequence of events leading to the release began late last week. On Friday, head coach Robert Saleh informed local media that Elliott would be unavailable for practice, attributing his absence to personal matters. Consequently, the defensive tackle did not travel with the team to Indianapolis for their game against the Colts last Saturday and was officially listed as inactive for the contest.

In Elliott's absence, the Titans utilized veteran defensive tackle Timmy Horne, who was elevated from the practice squad. Horne saw significant action during the game, logging 24 snaps on the defensive line. As of Tuesday, the team has not announced a corresponding roster move to fill the vacancy left by Elliott.

Elliott's tenure in Tennessee

The release marks an abrupt end to a short tenure for the veteran defender. Elliott had signed a two-year contract with the Titans during the offseason, a deal valued at up to $8.5 million. His arrival in Tennessee followed two seasons spent playing under Robert Saleh with the San Francisco 49ers.

During his time with the Titans this season, Elliott appeared in five games, including one start. Over those appearances, he recorded a total of 11 tackles. The organization is currently moving forward with its existing defensive rotation as they prepare for upcoming fixtures.
