A Clinical Performance Secures the Trophy
India’s path to victory was paved by an aggressive start that left Korea struggling to find a foothold. Ajeet Yadav opened the scoring in the 9th minute, expertly finding the net via a deflection. The momentum continued just four minutes later when captain Anmol Ekka doubled the lead, capitalising on an opportunity to put India 2-0 ahead before the first quarter concluded. Despite a late penalty corner for Korea, the Indian defensive line remained resolute, ensuring their two-goal cushion remained intact.
The second quarter saw India extend their dominance further. In the 21st minute, Prabhdeep Singh delivered a precise finish to stretch the lead to 3-0. While Korea attempted to mount a comeback, the Indian defence maintained a disciplined structure, heading into the half-time interval with a commanding advantage.
Closing Out the Final
The intensity remained high in the final quarter as India continued to press for more goals. After a series of attempts were thwarted by the Korean defence, India successfully utilised a referral to secure a penalty corner. Ashu Maurya capitalised on the opportunity in the 50th minute, pushing the score to 4-0. Although Korea managed to respond in the 54th minute when captain Lee Minhyeok converted a penalty stroke, the result was never in doubt.
Following the conclusion of the match, Hockey India announced a reward for the squad’s efforts, confirming prize money of ₹3 lakh for each player and ₹1.5 lakh for every member of the support staff. The victory marks another successful chapter for the Indian junior programme as they look ahead to the global stage.
