Nicolo Tresoldi Hat-Trick Stuns Inter Milan in Champions League Thriller

Club Brugge pulled off a stunning Champions League upset on Tuesday, defeating Inter Milan 4-3 at the San Siro in a high-scoring encounter. The victory was spearheaded by 22-year-old forward Nicolo Tresoldi, who delivered a masterful performance by netting a hat-trick to dismantle the Italian side's defense.

The match saw former Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer return to his old stomping ground, this time between the posts for the Belgian visitors. Sommer proved instrumental early on, denying Lautaro Martinez ten minutes into the contest, while Marcus Thuram also missed an early opportunity to put the hosts ahead. The deadlock was eventually broken just before the half-hour mark when Hakan Calhanoglu conceded a penalty for a foul on Carlos Forbs, allowing Tresoldi to convert from the spot.

Tresoldi Dominance and Late Drama

Inter Milan managed to find a response before the interval when Lautaro Martinez scored following a creative build-up involving Marcus Thuram and a clever backheel assist from Federico Dimarco. However, the momentum shifted back to the visitors shortly after the hour mark. Tresoldi capitalized on a significant goalkeeping error to restore the lead and then reacted quickest to a loose ball in the box to complete his hat-trick with fifteen minutes remaining.

Despite the deficit, the San Siro crowd remained hopeful when Martinez struck again in the 81st minute to bring the score to 3-2. Any chance of an Inter comeback was effectively extinguished in the 87th minute, however, as Romeo Vernant exploited defensive lapses to extend the Brugge lead to 4-2. Although Ange-Yoan Bonny managed to pull one back for the home side in the 93rd minute, it proved to be nothing more than a consolation.

The result leaves the reigning Serie A champions in a precarious position, as they remain without a point following an opening 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid. Inter will now face significant pressure heading into their next fixture against Shakhtar Donetsk. Meanwhile, Club Brugge, who suffered a 3-2 loss to Aston Villa in their opening match, will look to build on this momentum when they host French side Lens in their upcoming European clash.
