Monaco Climb to Ligue 1 Summit as Rosenior Secures First Paris FC Win

Monaco surged to the summit of the Ligue 1 standings on Sunday, maintaining their perfect start to the season with a clinical 2-0 victory over Marseille. The win ensures Monaco remains the only side in the division to have secured maximum points from their opening two fixtures.

The result was driven by a standout performance from 20-year-old German forward Paris Brunner, who netted both goals. Brunner opened the scoring in the 13th minute, rising to meet a precise cross from captain Aleksandr Golovin. He doubled the advantage nine minutes into the second half, skillfully cutting inside Marseille defenders Geoffrey Kondogbia and CJ Egan-Riley before firing his effort past goalkeeper Jeffrey De Lange.

The hosts took control early when Malian striker Lassine Sinayoko converted a penalty in the 20th minute. Paris FC extended their lead shortly after the interval through a swift counter-attacking move finished by Samir Chergui in the 51st minute. Vincent Marchetti added a third late in the game, capitalizing on a loose ball to seal the result. The victory moves Paris FC into second place, a positive response following their opening-day goalless draw against Troyes.

Elsewhere in the league, Rennes climbed to fifth place following a dramatic 3-2 win against Le Mans. Esteban Lepaul proved the difference for Rennes, scoring twice, including a decisive penalty deep into injury time. Le Mans forward Louis Mafouta also recorded a brace in the high-scoring encounter.

Reflecting on Brunner’s match-winning display for Monaco, coach Filipe Luis praised the young forward’s work ethic and ambition. Luis emphasized that the player’s ability to express himself through goals and defensive work rate has been evident since his arrival, noting that as long as the forward maintains his current passion and focus, he will remain a central figure in the squad.
