Mohamed Salah Lands in Turkey to Finalize Transfer to Trabzonspor

Mohamed Salah, the former Liverpool forward, has officially joined Turkish club Trabzonspor after concluding his tenure with the Premier League side. The 34-year-old Egyptian arrived in Istanbul on Wednesday morning, where he was warmly welcomed by a throng of enthusiastic fans. Trabzonspor celebrated his arrival on social media, posting, "Salah mode: ON," alongside images of him aboard a private jet adorned in the club's blue and maroon colors.

Salah touched down in Istanbul around 0900 GMT, and the atmosphere was electric as hundreds of supporters gathered to greet him. Among them was Trabzonspor fan Abdul Kerim Yervan, who expressed his excitement, stating, "I'm here straight after my night shift, and now for Mohamed Salah, I am ready to spend another sleepless night." The club announced on Tuesday that they had initiated discussions with Salah, who departed Liverpool after a remarkable nine-year stint that included numerous trophies.

Following his arrival, Salah is scheduled to undergo a medical examination in Istanbul before heading to Trabzon later in the day. Reports indicate that he is set to sign a two-year contract with an option for a third, with an annual salary of approximately 17 million euros (around $19.6 million), as per various Turkish media outlets.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Salah remarked, "I am really happy... and looking forward to training with the team. Everywhere I go, I always win or try to win something. Hopefully, we can do something within the league and in Europe as well." Trabzonspor welcomed him with the message "Welcome, Egyptian King" on social media platform X.

During his time at Liverpool, Salah made a significant impact, scoring 257 goals in 442 appearances, making him the club's third all-time leading scorer. He also netted 193 goals in the Premier League, placing him fourth on the all-time list behind legends Alan Shearer, Harry Kane, and Wayne Rooney. Despite a challenging last season where he scored only seven league goals, Salah's legacy remains strong.

In addition to his club achievements, Salah has been a key player for the Egyptian national team, scoring 66 goals in 119 appearances. His international career includes a notable performance at the World Cup, where he helped Egypt reach the knockout stage for the first time since 1934, although they ultimately fell to Argentina after leading 2-0.

Trabzonspor, who finished third in the Turkish Super Lig last season, will be looking to build on their success as they prepare for the upcoming Europa League play-off round.
