Bruno Guimaraes Plays First Match for Arsenal in Friendly Against Como

Bruno Guimaraes made his debut for Arsenal during a pre-season friendly match against Como, which ended in a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday. The Premier League champions faced a tough challenge as they prepared for the upcoming Community Shield against Manchester City. Guimaraes, who recently transferred from Newcastle for a reported fee of £75 million ($101 million), entered the match at halftime, shortly after Myles Lewis-Skelly had given Arsenal the lead.

Lewis-Skelly's goal came in the 30th minute, capitalizing on a mistake by Como's goalkeeper, Jean Butez. However, the lead was short-lived as Martin Baturina equalized for Como just before the break. The 19-year-old Lewis-Skelly celebrated his goal with a heart gesture, amidst speculation regarding his future at the club.

Upon his introduction, Guimaraes received an enthusiastic reception from the home crowd. Despite the Gunners' efforts, they were unable to secure a victory after Baturina's equalizer. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised Guimaraes's performance, noting that he had only participated in three training sessions prior to the match. "He looked good," Arteta remarked. As the team gears up for the Community Shield, midfielder Mikel Merino expressed the squad's determination to win.
