Bournemouth Maintain Perfect Europa League Start With Dominant Win Over AC Milan

Bournemouth continued their remarkable start to their inaugural Europa League campaign on Thursday, securing a commanding 3-0 victory over AC Milan at home. The win marks a perfect start for the Premier League side, who have now claimed three victories from their opening three fixtures in the competition.

The match turned decisively in the hosts' favour early on when AC Milan captain and goalkeeper Mike Maignan was shown a red card for a foul on Tyler Adams. Bournemouth capitalised on their numerical advantage, with Justin Kluivert and Marcus Tavernier both converting penalties before the half-time interval to establish a firm grip on the contest. Amine Adli added a third goal in the 84th minute, curling in a sublime free-kick to seal the result.

A Historic European Run for the Cherries

This result leaves Bournemouth as the first English club to win their first three European fixtures in history since Sunderland achieved the feat in the 1973/74 season. Following previous victories over Real Sociedad and Sturm Graz, the team now looks ahead to November fixtures against Sparta Prague and Celta Vigo.

Reflecting on the performance, Justin Kluivert told TNT Sports that the squad’s confidence remains high regardless of the opposition. He noted that the team trusts their abilities and that the recent run of victories has provided a strong foundation for their European ambitions.

Mixed Results Across European Competitions

Elsewhere in the Europa League, Juventus were denied a late victory against Rennes. After falling behind, the Italian side fought back to level the score at 2-2 through a Nick Woltemade penalty, but a potential 88th-minute winner from Jhon Lucumi was disallowed following a marginal offside call by VAR. Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen maintained their perfect record with a 2-0 win over OFI Crete, and Ferencvaros moved to nine points with a 4-1 victory against Torreense.

In other notable results, Crystal Palace secured a 2-2 draw away to Besiktas, while Scottish side Celtic fell to a 2-1 defeat against Celta Vigo. Sunderland were held to a 1-1 draw in Poland against Poznan despite taking an early lead through Timur Tutierov. In the Conference League, Mohamed Salah scored from the penalty spot to help Trabzonspor to a 2-0 win over Hearts, while Brighton played out a goalless draw with Jablonec.
