Vaishnavi Sharma surges in ICC ODI rankings following dominant series against Zimbabwe

India’s emphatic 3-0 series victory over Zimbabwe has triggered a significant shake-up in the latest ICC Women's ODI Player Rankings. Among the notable risers is 20-year-old spinner Vaishnavi Sharma, who has surged 53 places to reach 94th in the bowling standings following a breakout performance in her debut series.

The left-arm spinner’s rapid ascent comes after she claimed nine wickets across the final two matches of the series. After an initial four-wicket haul in the second ODI, Sharma produced a match-winning display in the series finale, recording figures of 5/39. This maiden five-wicket haul earned her Player of the Match honors and cemented her impact in the ICC Women's Championship.

Indian bowlers and batters climb the rankings

Sharma was not the only Indian player to see her standing improve following the series. Right-arm pacer Sayali Satghare moved up 18 spots to 85th in the bowling rankings after a disciplined performance in the third ODI, where she took 2/11 and bowled 30 dot balls. Meanwhile, Kranti Gaud climbed one position to 24th after contributing two wickets during the match in Vadodara.

The batting charts also reflected India's dominance. Opener Pratika Rawal rose three places to 18th, maintaining her form with a third consecutive half-century against the Zimbabwean attack. Shafali Verma also enjoyed a boost, climbing eight places to joint 65th after her aggressive 51-run contribution in the final game of the series.

Progress for Zimbabwe despite series defeat

While the series resulted in a clean sweep for the hosts, several Zimbabwean players also made gains in the latest ICC update. Bowler Nomvelo Sibanda climbed two spots to 60th after dismissing Yastika Bhatia with the opening delivery of the final ODI. In the batting rankings, opener Modester Mupachikwa moved up three places to 36th following her 37-run effort, while captain Josephine Nkomo improved by two spots to reach 49th.
