Robinson Obuya powers Uganda to clinical victory over Botswana

Joseph Baguma was the standout performer with the ball, dismantling the Botswana lineup with figures of 3/14 from his four overs. His spell ensured that the opposition never found a rhythm, with Valentine Mbazo providing the only real resistance, scoring 31 off 32 balls. Vinoo Balakrishnan added a brief 16 off 14 balls, but the lack of substantial partnerships left Botswana with a modest target to defend.

Robinson Obuya stepped up to the challenge, delivering a match-defining performance that took the game away from Botswana. Obuya struck a blistering 51 off just 28 balls, ensuring that Uganda remained ahead of the required run rate despite the early setbacks. Supported by Olipa Gerald, Obuya’s aggressive approach allowed Uganda to reach the target with relative ease, finishing on 105/5.

Obuya was deservedly named Player of the Match for his decisive half-century. Alongside the efforts of Joseph Baguma and Juma Miyagi, who also contributed significantly to the team's success, Uganda demonstrated clinical execution in both phases of the game to seal the win.
