Miyagi masterclass dismantles Mozambique

Uganda produced a clinical display of bowling at the NCF Oval 2 in Abuja, routing Mozambique for a mere 19 runs to secure a comprehensive 10-wicket victory in Match 10 of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Sub Regional Qualifier C. The result was built entirely on the back of a devastating spell from Juma Miyagi, whose figures of 5/7 in four overs left the opposition batting lineup in tatters.

After Mozambique captain won the toss and elected to bat, the decision backfired almost immediately. Miyagi spearheaded a relentless attack that gave the Mozambican batters no room to breathe. The innings never gained any momentum, with Joao Hou and Lourenco Salomone top-scoring with just four runs each. The entire side was bundled out in just 7.2 overs, unable to cope with the pressure applied by the Ugandan bowlers.

Alongside Miyagi’s match-defining performance, Enock Kasaija and Alpesh Ramjani provided excellent support, ensuring that the pressure remained constant from both ends. The efficiency of the Ugandan bowling unit ensured that the target remained well within reach, setting the stage for a swift conclusion to the contest.

Swift chase seals dominant win

Facing a target of just 20 runs, Uganda wasted no time in finishing the job. Robinson Obuya took the attack to the bowlers from the very first ball, racing to 16 runs off just three deliveries. His aggressive approach ensured that the required runs were knocked off in rapid fashion, allowing Uganda to reach 23/0 without losing a single wicket.

The victory serves as a significant statement in the ongoing qualifier tournament. While the match saw key moments swing the contest, the sheer dominance of the Ugandan bowling attack proved to be the decisive factor. With the target chased down in a matter of moments, Uganda walked away with a resounding win, further highlighting their intent in the competition.
