Qatar secured a commanding eight-wicket victory over Singapore in Match 11 of the
Singapore, having won the toss and elected to bat, found themselves struggling to build momentum against a disciplined Qatar attack. While Manpreet Singh provided a lone hand of resistance, anchoring the innings with a gritty 96 off 113 balls, he received little support from the rest of the lineup. Riaan Naik was the next highest contributor with 13 runs off 18 balls as the team failed to handle the pressure applied by Asim, who consistently found the breakthrough whenever a partnership threatened to develop.
Qatar Cruises to Target
Chasing a modest target of 151, Qatar’s innings experienced an early setback with the loss of an early wicket. The momentum shifted slightly when Shahzeb Afridi fell with the score at 63 in 8.2 overs, but any hopes of a Singaporean comeback were quickly extinguished. Zubair Ali took control of the chase, playing a composed knock of 55 off 79 balls to guide his side toward the finish line.
Supported by Zeeshan Haider, who helped steady the ship, Qatar reached 153/2 to seal the win with plenty of time to spare. The victory was a comprehensive team effort, with Asim’s match-defining bowling performance complemented by the steady batting of Ali and Haider. Alongside the standout efforts of Asim, Mujeeb Ur Rehman also contributed to a successful outing for Qatar, as they comfortably navigated the chase to secure the points in this ACC Men's Premier Cup encounter.
