Bilal Tahir Century Powers Kuwait to Thrilling Chase Against Oman

Tahir Masterclass Leads Kuwaiti Recovery

Kuwait secured a hard-fought four-wicket victory over Oman in Match 13 of the ACC Men's Premier Cup, anchored by a brilliant century from Bilal Tahir. Chasing 253 for the win at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur, Kuwait found themselves in early trouble before Tahir’s composed 103 off 106 balls steered them to a successful finish.

The chase began under pressure as Kuwait lost three early wickets, leaving the innings at a precarious 22/3 in just 6.4 overs following the dismissal of Adnan Idrees. With the top order back in the pavilion, the responsibility fell on Tahir and the middle order to rebuild the innings. Tahir rose to the occasion, finding support from Mohammed Aslam as they navigated the middle overs to keep the required run rate within reach. His innings proved to be the decisive factor, allowing Kuwait to reach 256/6 and seal the win.

Oman Set Competitive Total Before Bowling Collapse

Earlier in the day, Oman captain won the toss and elected to bat first, posting a competitive total of 252/8 from their allotted 50 overs. Jiten Ramanandi led the scoring for Oman with a brisk 53 off 55 balls, while Karan Sonavale provided valuable support with 43 runs from 40 deliveries. Despite these contributions, Oman struggled to build the momentum needed to push their total beyond 260 against a disciplined Kuwaiti attack.

Abdullah Zaheer was the standout performer with the ball for Kuwait, returning figures of 3/54 from his 10 overs. His ability to take wickets at regular intervals prevented Oman from establishing any significant partnerships that could have taken the game away from Kuwait. Alongside Zaheer, Mohamed Shafeeq also played a key role in restricting the scoring, ensuring that the target remained manageable for the Kuwaiti batters. Ultimately, the combination of Zaheer’s bowling and Tahir’s century proved too much for Oman, handing Kuwait a significant result in the tournament.
