Batting Masterclass Sets the Tone

India Women asserted their dominance in the third T20I against Zimbabwe at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur, posting a formidable 216/7 after electing to bat first. The innings was defined by a spectacular display of power-hitting from captain Harmanpreet Kaur and opener Shafali Verma, who dismantled the opposition bowling attack to set an imposing target of 217.

Harmanpreet Kaur was the standout performer, anchoring the innings with a blistering 91 off just 41 balls. Her aggressive approach ensured that India maintained a high scoring rate throughout the middle and death overs. She found an ideal partner in Shafali Verma, who provided the perfect platform at the top of the order with a fluent 69 off 37 balls. While Beloved Biza managed to stem the flow of runs at times, finishing with figures of 3/50 from her four overs, the Indian batters remained largely untroubled as they propelled their side past the 200-run mark.

Early Collapse Stifles Zimbabwe Chase

Facing a daunting target, Zimbabwe’s pursuit never truly gained momentum. The match was effectively decided in the very first over when Kelis Ndhlovu fell for a duck at 0.1 overs, a blow from which the visitors struggled to recover. The early loss of two wickets left Zimbabwe reeling, and they were unable to build the substantial partnerships required to challenge India’s massive total.

Sharne Mayers provided some resistance for Zimbabwe, top-scoring with 60 off 49 balls, while Beloved Biza contributed with the bat as well. However, the required run rate proved too steep, and the Indian bowling unit remained disciplined throughout the innings. Zimbabwe eventually finished on 124/7, falling 92 runs short of the target. With this comprehensive victory, India Women have extended their lead in the three-match series to 2-0, showcasing their superior form and depth in all departments.
