India U-19 Cruise to Dominant 10-Wicket Victory Over Nepal in Asia Cup Opener

India Under-19 made a statement in their opening match of the Under-19 Asia Cup, securing a comprehensive 10-wicket victory against Nepal in Al Amerat, Oman. After electing to bowl first, the Indian side dismantled the Nepal batting lineup before chasing down the target with clinical efficiency.

The foundation for the win was laid by fast bowler Ishan Sood, who utilized the new ball to devastating effect. Sood’s early spell left Nepal reeling at 27/3 by the ninth over, having claimed the wickets of Prashiddha Jaishi, Suryanshu Koirala, and Nischal Kshetri. The pressure remained constant throughout the innings, with Nepal eventually bowled out for 128 in 42.3 overs.

Bowling Dominance and Efficient Chase

While Sood finished with impressive figures of 3/18, he received excellent support from the rest of the bowling attack. Arjun Rajput proved particularly economical, taking three wickets for just eight runs. Yashveer Goud chipped in with two scalps, while Manal Chauhan and Kavya Paresh Patel claimed one wicket apiece to ensure Nepal never gained momentum. Only Darsh Sonal, who top-scored with 43, and Aashish Luhar, who contributed 29, offered any significant resistance during a 43-run fifth-wicket partnership.

Chasing a modest target of 129, India’s openers made light work of the requirement. Aaryavir Sehwag led the charge with an aggressive 70 not out from just 52 deliveries, an innings highlighted by seven fours and four sixes. His partner, Lakshya Raichandani, provided steady support with an unbeaten 53 off 63 balls, featuring seven boundaries. The pair reached the target in just 19.1 overs, handing India a victory with 30.5 overs to spare. India now turns its attention to their next group stage encounter, where they are scheduled to face Pakistan on Sunday.
