India suffer injury setback as Prasidh Krishna ruled out of final ODI against West Indies

India’s preparations for the final ODI against West Indies have been disrupted by an injury to fast bowler Prasidh Krishna. The pacer has been officially ruled out of the third match of the series after sustaining a hamstring injury during the second encounter held in Guwahati on Wednesday, September 30.

The injury occurred while Krishna was in the middle of his spell, limiting him to just five overs of bowling before he was forced to leave the field. Despite the setback, India managed to secure a dominant eight-wicket victory, successfully chasing down the target of 405 runs with 39 balls remaining to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Squad adjustments and replacement details

In response to the injury, the team management has called up Anshul Kamboj as a replacement for the final fixture. Kamboj, 24, was previously involved with the India A squad for their four-day match against Australia A. He departed that game on the second day, having already made an impact by claiming three wickets in the first innings, and has since traveled to Chandigarh to join the senior setup.

With Kamboj now in the mix, the selection committee faces a decision regarding the final playing XI for the match scheduled for Saturday, October 3, in New Chandigarh. Mohammed Siraj, who has been part of the ODI squad throughout the series but has yet to feature, is considered the primary candidate to step into the side. However, team management may also consider further rotation, potentially opening a window for Kamboj to make his debut should they opt to rest other personnel, such as Auqib Nabi Dar.

The upcoming match serves as the conclusion to the current series, with India looking to maintain their momentum following their clinical performance in the opening two games. Praful Hinge has been named as the replacement for Kamboj in the India A squad to ensure continuity for the ongoing four-day fixtures.
