Wrapping up - That brings us to the end of an engaging opening day of the second Test, with West Indies in a promising position to build a substantial first-innings total, while Bangladesh will be eager to strike early on the second morning and prevent the visitors from running away with the game. Day 2 gets underway on Friday, November 6, at 3.30 am GMT, but do join us a little earlier for all the build-up. Until then, cheers!

Fading light limits final session - The final session was stop-start, with fading light restricting play to just 15 overs, but West Indies made the most of the limited opportunity. Amir Jangoo brought up his second Test century in style, while Justin Greaves scored freely at the other end as the pair added an unbeaten 77-run stand. They will look to extend that partnership and push the visitors well beyond 300, while Bangladesh, forced to rely solely on spin with the light deemed unsafe for pacers, struggled to create any meaningful opportunities.

Century stand puts Windies back in control - The pair carried that momentum into the second session, mixing positive strokeplay with solid defence to put Bangladesh under pressure. Amir Jangoo brought up a fine half-century before Kevin Wickham followed with a memorable maiden Test fifty on debut, as the duo extended their partnership to 131 runs. Just when West Indies looked set for an uninterrupted session, Hasan produced a beauty to dismiss Wickham and provide Bangladesh with a much-needed breakthrough. Justin Greaves joined Jangoo thereafter, and the two ensured the visitors continued to make steady progress heading into Tea.

Bangladesh make a flying start with the ball - Bangladesh made an excellent start with the ball after West Indies elected to bat, as Taskin Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud exploited the conditions to leave the visitors reeling at 27/3. Taskin struck twice, removing Brandon King and Joshua Da Silva, while Hasan bowled Kavem Hodge to put the hosts firmly on top. However, debutant Kevin Wickham and Amir Jangoo showed plenty of composure and determination to arrest the slide, stitching together an important unbeaten partnership to take their side into Lunch at 86/3.

An early finish brings Day 1 to a close - Just like the first Test, Day 1 comes to an early close, but there was plenty of action before the weather intervened. After an early wobble, West Indies took charge through a fine recovery and will look to build on that platform. Bangladesh, meanwhile, need to go back to the drawing board, come up with fresh plans and find a way to claw their way back into the contest.

UPDATE - 10.30 am GMT - It was coming. We have the official word that Stumps are called on Day 1. The players are making their way back to the dressing rooms.

UPDATE - 10.25 am GMT - Well, folks, it doesn't look like we'll be getting any more cricket today, as some dark clouds have rolled in, and conditions show no sign of improving. Meanwhile, the umpires are out for another light reading, and an official update on play seems imminent. Nitin Menon walks towards the Bangladeshi dugout to convey the message and walks back.

UPDATE - 10.08 am GMT - And... the light meter is out again as the floodlights have been switched on! Unfortunately, the players are walking off as artificial light takes over from the fading natural light. For a batter, these interruptions can be frustrating, particularly when you're settled and in good rhythm at the crease. With 20 overs still remaining but only about 45 minutes of play left, including any extra time, it's virtually impossible to fit them all in, even with the spinners operating. An early end to the day's play looks highly likely as conditions have gotten darker as we speak.
