BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia addressed the rumors on Monday, providing clarity on the situation and confirming that the fixture remains firmly in the national capital. His statement effectively puts an end to the uncertainty that had circulated regarding the readiness of the Delhi venue to host the international encounter.
Clarification on Venue Allocation and Scheduling
Addressing the reports of a potential shift, Saikia emphasized that no such decision had been reached by the board. He reiterated that the allocation of bilateral matches follows a standard, established policy, dismissing the notion that the match was at risk of being moved to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
While the Narendra Modi Stadium is indeed part of the series itinerary, it is already designated to host the third and final ODI on December 19. By clarifying the board's position, the BCCI has ensured that the original schedule remains intact for the upcoming white-ball tour.
