Ayush Badoni Joins Delhi Elite with Second Successive Ranji Trophy Double Century

Delhi captain Ayush Badoni has etched his name into the history books, becoming only the third batter from his state to register double centuries in consecutive first-class innings. Following his recent masterclass against Gujarat, the skipper continued his prolific form in Ranchi on Tuesday, steering Delhi into a commanding position against Jharkhand in their Ranji Trophy Group C fixture.

Badoni’s unbeaten 210, crafted from just 228 deliveries, provided the backbone of the Delhi innings. He was supported by all-rounder Sumit Mathur, who contributed a career-best 150 not out. The pair’s dominance allowed Delhi to declare their first innings at a formidable 515/5. By the close of play, Jharkhand found themselves under significant pressure, reaching 131/4 and trailing by 384 runs with only six wickets remaining.

While Badoni dominated proceedings in Ranchi, the spotlight also shone on Vadodara, where Baroda’s Priyanshu Moliya produced a monumental performance against Jammu and Kashmir. Resuming the second day on 113, Moliya accelerated to finish with a massive 321 off 492 balls. His marathon innings, which featured 36 boundaries and a six, helped propel Baroda to a total of 616.

Elsewhere in the third round of the Ranji Trophy, Madhya Pradesh secured a comprehensive victory over Bihar in Indore, winning by an innings and 174 runs. Saransh Jain was the standout performer for the hosts, claiming 6/49 to dismantle the Bihar batting lineup. In other notable Group B action, Punjab posted 431 against Hyderabad, led by S Arora’s 151, while Hyderabad responded with 193/2. In Group C, Mohammed Shami made an impact for Bengal, taking 3/20 to leave Kerala struggling at 101/6 in response to Bengal's 350. Meanwhile, in Group D, Mumbai finished their first innings at 430, anchored by centuries from Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Musheer Khan, before reducing Haryana to 108/2 by stumps.
