Afghanistan claimed the 2026 ODI Tri-Series title in emphatic fashion, dismantling Zimbabwe by seven wickets in the final at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. After Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza opted to bat first, the Afghanistan bowling attack, spearheaded by the talismanic Rashid Khan, ensured the opposition never found a rhythm on a challenging surface. Rashid was the standout performer with the ball, returning figures of 3/41 from his ten overs to stifle the Zimbabwean middle order. Despite a valiant effort from Raza, who top-scored with 68 off 83 balls, and a supportive 31 from Ryan Burl, Zimbabwe were bundled out for 169 in 43.3 overs. The disciplined bowling performance left Afghanistan with a modest target of 170 to secure the trophy.

Zadran steers clinical chase

The pursuit of 170 began with a minor setback as Afghanistan lost an early wicket, but the team remained composed throughout the chase. The turning point of the innings arrived when Rahmanullah Gurbaz fell at 68 in 9.4 overs, bringing a sense of urgency to the middle. However, Ibrahim Zadran took control of the situation, anchoring the innings with a measured 70 off 96 balls. Supported by Rahmat Shah, Zadran ensured there were no further alarms as Afghanistan reached their target with seven wickets in hand. The victory cemented Afghanistan's dominance in the tournament, capping off a successful campaign in the United Arab Emirates. Alongside the efforts of Zadran and Rashid, Mohammad Nabi provided a steadying influence to guide the team home, confirming their status as the deserved winners of the 2026 Tri-Series.
