India's badminton contingent is set to make a significant impact at the US Open Super 300 tournament, which kicks off in Fullerton on Tuesday. Leading the charge are seasoned player Lakshya Sen and promising talent Tanvi Sharma, both of whom are expected to perform strongly in their respective singles events. The tournament will also feature a robust representation from India, including former world championships silver medallist Kidambi Srikanth and a total of seven female competitors.

Key Players and Matchups

World No. 14 Lakshya Sen, who reached the semifinals at the Paris Olympics, has been seeded second in the men's singles draw. He is set to face Belgium's Julien Carraggi in his opening match. Sen has a favorable 5-4 record against the top seed, Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei, who is currently ranked sixth in the world. Should Sen advance through the rounds, he may encounter Chou again, having bested him in their last two encounters. After a disappointing first-round exit at the Indonesia Open earlier this month, Sen is eager to regain his form.

Kidambi Srikanth, another prominent figure in the men's singles, is seeded fifth and will begin his campaign against Liao Jhuo-Fu from Chinese Taipei. Additionally, unseeded Saneeth Dayanand will face fourth seed Yudai Okimoto of Japan, while S. Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian is set to compete against a qualifier in the round of 32.

Women's Singles and Doubles Competitions

The women's singles draw showcases a strong Indian presence, with seven players participating. Leading the group are fifth seed Tanvi Sharma and sixth seed Devika Sihag, ranked 32nd and 34th globally, respectively. Tanvi, a 17-year-old who recently reached the semifinals at the Orleans Masters and the quarterfinals at the Australian Open Super 500, will open her tournament against Germany's Yvonne Li. Devika, who has clinched two titles this year, will face Ines Lucia Castillo Salazar from Peru.

In the women's doubles category, Commonwealth Games bronze medallists Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will represent India, starting their campaign against Spain's Paula Lopez and Lucia Rodriguez. The mixed doubles event will also see Indian representation, with seventh seeds Dhruv Rawat and Maneesha K taking on Indonesia's Wirawan Ihsan Adam and Serena Kani in their opening match. However, there will be no Indian pairs competing in the men's doubles draw.
