Indian sprinter
This latest victory follows her success just 24 hours earlier, where she claimed the top spot in the 200m event, also setting a Games record in the process. Simran’s consistency on the track has been a highlight of the event, as she once again outperformed her rivals to secure the top step of the podium.
Dominant Sprint Performance
In the 100m final, Simran faced stiff competition but ultimately proved too quick for the rest of the field. Iran’s Hajar Safarzadeh took the silver medal with a time of 12.30 seconds, while Indonesia’s Made Ni Putri secured the bronze, clocking in at 12.51 seconds. The T12 classification, in which Simran competes, is designated for athletes with moderate visual impairment.
The sprinter's recent success marks a significant chapter in her career. Having previously secured a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, Simran is currently competing alongside her new guide, Shivam. This partnership follows the suspension of her former guide, Umar Saifi, due to a doping violation. Her performance in this tournament serves as a strong statement of her form, particularly after she previously earned silver medals in both the 100m and 200m events at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Para Games.
