In a thrilling display of skill and determination, Ikshan Shanbhag of Petronas TVS Racing clinched victory in the premier SX1 category at the MRF MoGrip FMSCI National Supercross Championship held in Coimbatore on Sunday. Shanbhag's triumph came after a fierce battle with teammate Rugved Barguje, who had been leading for the majority of the race. However, a remarkable last-lap surge allowed Shanbhag to secure the top position, showcasing his racing prowess.

V. Prajwal, the current championship leader, also had a standout performance, dominating the second race of the day and accumulating a total of 35 points, which placed him at the top of the day's standings. The competition was fierce, with Prajwal's consistent performance throughout the event solidifying his lead in the championship rankings.

Race Results and Standings

The results from the day's races highlighted the competitive spirit of the participants. In the SX1 category, Prajwal finished first with 35 points, followed closely by Barguje with 34 points and Shanbhag with 28 points. All three racers represented Petronas TVS, demonstrating the team's dominance in this category. In the SX2 category, Amal Verghese from Ernakulam took the lead with 37 points, while Abdul Lathiff from Pattambi and Manikandan from Coimbatore secured second and third places, respectively.

In Group B, which features bikes up to 260cc, S. Kathiroli from Hero Motorsports emerged victorious with 20 points, followed by A. Karthik from Coimbatore and P.B. Prajwal from Bengaluru. The Indian Experts category saw Banteilang Jyrwa leading with 40 points, while D. Sachin and Imran Pasha both finished with 30 points, showcasing the depth of talent in the competition.

Junior and Local Class Highlights

The junior categories also delivered exciting races. In the JR SX1 (150-250cc), Ector Ezak from Kochi took first place with 37 points, while Akshat Hupale from Pune and Yash Shinde from Pune followed closely. The JR SX2 (up to 85cc) was won by Darshit Chavan from Pune, who scored a perfect 40 points. In the JR SX3 (up to 65cc), T. Thannin from Coimbatore also achieved a perfect score, further emphasizing the competitive nature of the event.

In the local class for Group B (up to 260cc), A. Karthik led the pack with 20 points, followed by Jeeva Nandham and B. Sharan, both from Coimbatore. The event not only showcased the skills of seasoned racers but also highlighted the emerging talent in the sport.
