Manchester United Finalizes Agreement to Sign Brighton's Carlos Baleba, According to Reports

Manchester United is set to bolster its midfield with the acquisition of Carlos Baleba from Brighton & Hove Albion in a deal reportedly worth £70 million (approximately $95 million). This move, confirmed by various sources on Friday, marks another significant addition to the squad under the management of Michael Carrick, who has been actively reshaping the team's midfield since the conclusion of the previous season.

Baleba's Journey to Manchester

The 22-year-old Cameroonian midfielder is expected to arrive in Manchester this weekend to complete the transfer process. Baleba joined Brighton in 2023 from Lille and has since made over 100 appearances for the Seagulls across all competitions. Despite his potential, Baleba's performance last season was somewhat underwhelming, as he started only 23 matches in the Premier League and did not find the back of the net, a situation that may have been influenced by the ongoing interest from Manchester United.

His arrival at Old Trafford comes at a crucial time for the club, which has seen significant changes in its midfield lineup. The departures of key players, including Casemiro, alongside the injury of Manuel Ugarte, have created a pressing need for reinforcements. In response, United has already secured the signings of Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa and Andrey Santos from Chelsea during the summer transfer window, aiming to fill the gaps left by these departures.

Looking Ahead to the New Season

As Manchester United prepares to kick off its Premier League campaign, the team is looking to build on its third-place finish from last season. The club's first match of the new season will be against promoted side Hull City on Saturday. With the addition of Baleba and other new signings, United aims to strengthen its position in the league and compete for top honors in the upcoming season.
