India Women Clinch ODI Series Against Zimbabwe with Dominant Victory

India Women secured a comprehensive 121-run victory over Zimbabwe in the second ODI at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara on Sunday, successfully clinching the three-match series with one game remaining. The hosts delivered a clinical performance, posting a formidable total before their bowling attack dismantled the visitors to take an unassailable 2-0 lead.

After being sent in to bat, India recovered from the early loss of captain Smriti Mandhana for a duck. Pratika Rawal provided stability with a composed 61 off 67 balls, anchoring the innings alongside Harmanpreet Kaur. The duo put together a vital 124-run stand for the third wicket, which set the platform for the middle and lower-order batters to accelerate.

Record-breaking partnership powers India to 328

Harmanpreet Kaur led the charge with a fluent 126 from 121 deliveries, finding the boundary 15 times. She was joined by Deepti Sharma, who produced an aggressive, counter-attacking century, finishing unbeaten on 106 off just 86 balls. The pair combined for a 153-run partnership for the fifth wicket off 138 balls, establishing a new record for India in women's ODIs for that wicket. Their late-innings surge propelled India to an imposing 328/6 in their allotted 50 overs. Nomvelo Sibanda was the pick of the Zimbabwe bowlers, claiming two wickets.

Vaishnavi and Deepti dismantle Zimbabwe chase

Facing a daunting target of 329, Zimbabwe showed more resilience than in the series opener. Modester Mupachikwa and Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano built a 69-run partnership to keep the visitors in the hunt. Mupachikwa contributed 49 off 70 balls, while Mugeri-Tiripano added 46, but both were dismissed before they could convert their starts into substantial scores. Once the partnership was broken, the required run rate climbed rapidly, and the visitors struggled to maintain momentum.

Vaishnavi, returning to the starting XI, proved instrumental in stifling the chase. She finished with impressive figures of 4/39 from her 10 overs, consistently breaking partnerships and applying pressure. Deepti Sharma complemented her earlier batting heroics with a strong bowling display, claiming 3/32 in nine overs. Jintimani Kalita wrapped up the innings by taking the final wicket of Chiedza Dhururu, marking her first international scalp and bowling Zimbabwe out for 207 in 48.5 overs.
