High Demand Leads to Expanded Stadium Capacity
The intensity of the demand has already necessitated logistical adjustments at major venues. Notably, the second T20I in Christchurch is currently 75% sold out, reflecting the high level of interest in the shorter format of the game. Furthermore, Eden Park is preparing for a significant influx of spectators, with NZC confirming that the stadium's sixth tier of seating will be opened for the fourth T20I on October 30.
This move marks the first time the upper level at Eden Park has been made available to the public since India’s previous tour in 2019. NZC Head of Marketing Tim Ellis noted that the ability to utilize the top tier of the stadium is a direct reflection of the growing excitement surrounding the visiting side. He described the rapid uptake of tickets for the matches at Hagley Oval as particularly remarkable, given the venue's history of strong attendance.
NZC Planning Fan-Centric Experiences
Beyond the matches themselves, New Zealand Cricket is focusing on enhancing the overall spectator experience. According to Ellis, the organization is currently in the advanced stages of planning various events and on-site activations designed to engage fans of all ages throughout the duration of the tour. With the series fast approaching, the combination of high-profile cricket and extensive fan engagement initiatives is expected to maintain the current momentum in ticket sales.
