The competition is set to run from February 14 to February 28, 2027, and will feature six of the world's top women's cricket teams. The tournament will be contested in the T20I format, comprising a total of 16 matches as part of a round-robin league stage that culminates in a final between the top two sides.
Tournament Details and Venue Selection
The ICC has confirmed that the matches will be hosted across two primary venues: the Cricket Club of India (CCI) in Mumbai and the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium. The six participating nations—India, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka—have secured their spots based on their standings in the ICC Women’s T20I Team Rankings.
The shift in hosting rights from Sri Lanka to India was approved by the ICC Board following a comprehensive evaluation process. The decision was prompted by governance concerns regarding Sri Lanka Cricket, which is currently managed by a government-appointed committee. The ICC views this arrangement as a violation of its regulations concerning political or governmental interference in the administration of the sport. India was selected as the new host after the ICC considered competing proposals from Bangladesh and South Africa.
