Restructuring Bihar's Selection Process
In addition to the senior setup, the BCCI has established a separate three-member committee to oversee the selection of Bihar’s age-group teams, including the Under-16, Under-19, and Under-23 squads. This panel features former national junior selector Harvinder Singh Sodhi, former Punjab all-rounder Krishan Mohan, and former Gujarat wicketkeeper Pathik Patel.
According to reports, the newly appointed selectors have already arrived in Patna and commenced the process of evaluating local talent at the Moin-Ul-Haq Stadium. The BCCI’s involvement in Bihar’s selection process is not unprecedented. The board previously appointed a four-member committee last season—comprising Chetan Sharma, Harvinder Singh, Salil Ankola, and Neetu David—to manage the selection of the state's age-group teams.
Bihar, having earned promotion to the Elite Group, is set to face a challenging schedule this season. Their Ranji Trophy campaign begins with a match against Uttar Pradesh in Rajgir. The team has been placed in Elite Group A, where they will also compete against Baroda, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Jammu & Kashmir, Vidarbha, and Puducherry.
